Is OpenNETCF the library to do the "CONDUIT" of communication between PC and the mobile device with Windows Mobile? (As the "CONDUIT" for the HotSync with the Palms)

Sep 28, 2009 at 4:26 PM

I did a conduit for an application of my PALM, this conduit registers in the hotsync and is activated when the PALM synchronizes, hereby I can obtain and send information for my application. Now I need to make something similar but for a mobile device with Windows Mobile. Is it necessary make a conduit and register it in ActiveSync?  or   is it simply a system that it recognizes to the mobile device and treats it as if it was one more unit of I/O?

Help me please, i dont understand it

Robert

First of all OpenNETCF is a company and they developed (and later open-sourced) this library.

The OpenNETCF Desktop Communication Library is a wrapper for the Remote Application Programming Interface provided by Microsoft's ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) respectively.

Read more about RAPI here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa458022.aspx

You'll find the documentation of the OpenNETCF Desktop Communication Library at http://www.opennetcf.com/library/communication/

If you want to share data with your mobile application via files to be transferred from and to the mobile device this is definitely a way to go. If you're planning to communicate with your mobile application directly through an IP based protocol i.e. this library won't help you much.

Hope that helps

Robert ;)
